Installing the EduSuite OS PWA on Mobile & Desktop

What is a PWA?

A Progressive Web App (PWA) is a website that can be installed on your device and behaves like a native app:

• ✅ Works offline for basic navigation

Installing on iPhone / iPad (iOS)

1. Open Safari and go to your school's EduSuite OS URL (e.g., yourschool.edusuiteos.in).
2. Tap the Share button (square with arrow at the bottom).
3. Scroll down and tap "Add to Home Screen".
4. Confirm the name (your school name should appear automatically).
5. Tap Add.

The EduSuite OS icon now appears on your home screen with your school's logo.

Installing on Android

Method 1: Chrome Prompt

1. Open Chrome and visit your school's EduSuite OS URL.
2. A banner may appear at the bottom: "Add EduSuite OS to Home screen".
3. Tap Install.
4. The app is now in your app drawer.

Method 2: Manual Install

1. Open Chrome and visit the URL.
2. Tap the ⋮ menu (three dots, top-right).
3. Tap "Add to Home screen" or "Install app".
4. Confirm and tap Add.

Installing on Desktop (Windows / Mac / Linux)

Chrome

1. Visit your school's EduSuite OS URL in Chrome.
2. Click the install icon (⊕) in the address bar.
3. Click Install.
4. The app opens in its own window and appears in your Start Menu / Applications.

Edge

1. Visit the URL in Microsoft Edge.
2. Click ⋯ → Apps → Install this site as an app.
3. Confirm installation.

Sharing the Install Link with Parents

Send parents a simple message:

Dear Parents,

Install the EduSuite OS School App on your phone:
1. Open this link in your browser: https://yourschool.edusuiteos.in
2. Tap "Add to Home Screen" when prompted
3. Log in with your parent credentials

You can also send this via the Communication module as an announcement.

Troubleshooting

Q: I don't see the "Add to Home Screen" option on iPhone. A: Make sure you're using Safari (not Chrome or other browsers). The option appears in the Share menu.

Q: The app icon shows a generic browser icon instead of our school logo. A: Ensure your school logo is uploaded in Settings → Branding. Clear the browser cache and reinstall the PWA.

Q: Push notifications aren't working. A: Ensure notifications are enabled in your device settings for the EduSuite OS PWA. On iOS 16.4+, PWA push notifications are supported.
